Hi rnjpjrjr anonymous,
I'm sure that you know that, if a CD is damaged by heat, pressure, scraps or
scratches, that it will damage files. Your problem is this or damaged clusters on
the HDD. To help with this problem, you can run a specific command to the HDD that
may help with damaged clusters. Try his format command. Boot with a ME or 98se
bootdisk (
www.bootdisk.com). to:
DOS prompt. "Type" format c: /U /C /S (assume c:\ drive letter)
Command Legend:
/U= Unconditional Format - ignores deleted cluster fragments
/C= Re-tests currently marked bad clusters for recovery
/S= Transfers necessary system files so disk can boot
If this gets you to a place to proceed, and you need any further help, you can ask
hee, but this actually a Win2000 forum.
good computing,
don
