Millenium O/S Problems

I am running Millenium on my computer...when I start it up everything seems
to run normally.but when it gets to the desktop it goes black..the only thing
visible is the cursor..i hit ctrl-alt-del and the task manager comes up..but
I cannot see anything other than that. How can I fix this problem? WHAT is
the problem?
Help is greatly appreciated.

Usually caused by a broken Internet Explorer but could also be pretty
park virus. Read here:

If you don't have the virus try repairing IE from the command prompt
(with your Windows ME Startup floppy disk "Minimal Boot" option), or by
switching the explorer shell as described in the previous article.

How about searching newsgroups? m.p.windowsme.general.
Dave isn't wasting time - just trying to prevent you from doing so, by
posting in the wrong group for your question.
