Perhaps someone can help with this..
My mike has stopped working - sort of. Sounds come through my own speakers fine as before. But nothing will record or work through Messenger. Another mike does the same thing, so it's not the mike that's at fault
As near as I can pin down the start of the problem was after a WinXP (Home) auto update that included new sound and network drivers. I created a system restore point prior to this update, so I restored to that but no difference, so I undid the restore
I tried running a driver rollback and reinstalling the latest driver but also no difference
Details are
IBM Netvista 2275-31A Duron 800
XP Hom
Norton Internet Securit
Driver: VIA AC'97 19/08/2003 6.14.1.388
I would appreciate any ideas - I'm out of them..
Thanks, Alan in Oz

I have had this exact same problem and it was very frustrating. It has however now been resolved. Hopefully this will help.
Click "start"
click "control panel"
double click "network connections"
right click on Local area connection, then go to "properties"
uncheck "QoS Packet Scheduler"
Restart computer
Then try messenger

This worked on mine. Good luck!
