We've been running a 6-station peer--to-peer network with
XP Pro on each device. We've recently installed a
Windows 2000 Server with Active Directory. How can we
create network user accounts exactly the same as the
current local accounts, including all user desktop
settings, e-mail settings, My Documents & start menu
items, etc.?

This is more of a deployment question. However, you need to create
accounts for all users on the domain controller. Then when they first log
onto the domain on their machine, a new profile will be created for them.
What you could try is to then log on as administrator on that machine and in
my computer/properties/advanced/profile copy the existing profile to the
newly created domain profile. Test it out on one machine first. You may also
want to post in a win2000.setup_deployment newsgroup. --- Steve

Get a good book on Active Directory. You'll need it. I'd recommend Inside
Active Directory by Kouti and Seitsonen.

Just telling you how to create user accounts, use folder redirection, etc...
isn't going to solve your problem. (Besides the list of things you asked for
would require a book long post anyway.) You really need to understand what,
and why, you're doing what you're doing. Giving you point and click
directions when you don't understand how things work will only lead you into
further problems. Active Directory is much more involved than a simple
peer-to-peer network.
