Hi,

I am trying to migrate a numbber of users from one 2003 AD forest to
another, there is no link between the forests so I would like to do
the export from one side, change the namespace and pump them into the
other forest with group membership intact (the AD trees are exactly
the same apart from namespace)

The two forests have different namespaces which could be an issue??

I have looked at admt, and migration assistant from Netiq, they all
fail at the first furlong as there is no connectivity between the two
forests.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ADMT works very well and has a test mode but you need to setup a trust, domain
administrators need to be administrator in the other domain, have connectivity and
dns name resolution between forests which can be doe with stub zones or my making
domain controllers in one domain have secondary zones of the other domain. If you can
not set up physical network connectivity then maybe you could physically bring the
domain controller from the other domain that has the five fsmo roles and global
catalog into the target domains network or recreate it from a backup onto a computer
with the same hardware [or as close as possible, particularly motherboard and disk
controllers]. Other options may be to use ldifde though I believe you will lose
password information. I suggest you also post in the win2000.Active_directory
newsgroup for your topic. --- Steve
