I just setup my new domain controller and now I want to migrate my users
into the the server. I'm testing it on my laptop and realizing that once I
connect up, I get a completely different session, with different screen
settings, no email and everything is all misplaced. I can go in manually
and bring over files, but is there an easier way to migrate all personal
settings over???

Thanks, Todd

This is good, but this isn't exactly what I'm talking about. We already
have W2KPRO machines, we just never had a domain controller (small office).
Now the DC is setup, and I want all of our 2000 machines to connect up to
the server, but once they join the domain, there is a totally new session on
their desktops. They have to log in locally to their machine to restore
their old connections, but that doesn't help when there's a server in place
for them now to use. I want them to be able to logon to the domain and
still have their old desktop (files, email, personal settings) carried over
when they log in. Does this program support that?

Log on to the local machine as a domain admin, right-click my computer ->
properties -> User Progfiles tab. Use the copy profile function to copy the
old profile to the new one.

If what you mean is that when you connect to the domain the user ends up
with a whole new profile? The way I've been doing this is to open the
Documents and Settings folder and then the users previous profile folder it
will probably be their old login name, and copy selected files to the new
folder. Some settings will be lost but they will have menu items, documents,
etc. I started doing this because their are so many differences between a
stand alone computer and one that is on a Domain, that sometimes problems
creep in when you just copy the profile.

Curt,

Do not forget that he has to FIRST logon as the user (
the one with the Domain User Account ) so that this
profile is generated ( from the Default Users' profile ).
