How can I migrate DNS Zones from one Member Server to an AD DC?

I've migrated from Member server to Member Server by Exporting the registry
and then moving the Zone files.

Do I do it the same way and then just go in and AD enable each of them??

thanks,

If it is only one or two zones, the simplest is to just create
the zones on the DC as a secondary (initially).

How many do you have?

If it's a lot you can likely use the same registry migration strategy,
or automate it with DNScmd.

Try this tool...

Dean Wells' DNSDump:

(notice that there's an underscore at the end of the link)

there are about 30 zones. (-;

I Exported the Registry on the Member DNS server, the Imported it on the AD
DNS Server. then Copied over all the Zone files. Restarted the DNS and
they are all there.

Now I think I need to go in and make them all AD enabled to be able to push
them all to the other AD DNS Servers.

Thanks,

Excellent -- 30 is a bit much for doing my secondary trick. Last time
I had 30 zones, I moved the files also.

Actually, in Win2000 DC (and usually in Win2003) you have the records on
ALL DCs once you make even one of them integrated BUT the zones (the
definition
of the zones) will NOT show up until you "create" each one on each DC.
(Consider DNScmd for this.)

The records are stored in AD and therefore replicated as pure data, but
until you
configure the DNS server to use them, they are pretty irrelevant.
