I have a simple NT4 domain (1 PDC NT4) and I want to migrate to a new Win2k
server.
I cannot upgrade my old server to Win2k.
Is there a way to migrate users, groups and accounts to the new Win2k server
maintaining the same domain name and without disjoin e rejoin domain all my
clients?

Thanks,

Michael L.

On the new server install NT 4.0 on it as a BDC while connected to your
existing domain. Users and groups will be replicated to the new server.
Use a temporary name and IP address consistent with your network.
Use robocopy or Scopy to copy files to the new server from the old server.
Promote the BDC to PDC.
Remove your original PDC (now BDC) from the domain.
Rename and change IP address to match the removed server, then upgrade to
Win 2k and AD.
Suggest you then format your removed server and install Win 2k on it and add
it to your Win 2k domain as a second DC.

You need to set up DNS differently in Win 2k.

Is it the only way to do that ?
I wish to do a clean install of Win2k
Is there any tools to migrate users, groups, accounts from a NT4 domain to a
Win2k domain ?

Thanks,

No it is the easiest.
I wish to do a clean install of Win2k

With a clean install of Win 2k you will be creating a NEW domain.
Is there any tools to migrate users, groups, accounts from a NT4 domain to a
Win2k domain ?

Yes, the ADMT. Using the ADMT you have to create a trust between the two
domains. You can not create a trust between two domains with the same name.

You want to keep the same domain name right?
Keeping the same domain name and doing a fresh install of Win 2k will
require you to set up an "interim Win 2k domain"
Example:
NT domain = mycompany
Set up Win 2k (interim) AD domain as mycompanyalso.com. Use ADMT to migrate
users from mycompany to mycompanyalso.com.
Remove NT 4.0 domain mycompany.
Set up final Win 2k domain as mycompany.com Use ADMT to migrate users from
mycompanyalso.com to mycompany.com.

OR

Install NT 4.0 on a "box" (not final server but interim server this could be
a spare workstation) as a BDC while connected to your existing network,
Promote to PDC then upgrade to Win 2k and AD. You do not have to move files
etc.. to this box.
Once you have Win 2k and AD running on the "box" do a fresh install of Win
2k and AD on the new server and add it to the Win 2k domain. Transfer all
FSMO roles from the "box" to the new Win 2k server. Then use robocopy or
scopy to copy files from the NT DC to the new Win 2k server. Then remove the
"box" by running dcpromo.

In order for *anything* to work right in whichever scenario you choose you
must configure DNS correctly.
