Hello,

thinking of purchasing i320, by Microtek.

I will be scanning old photos, plus some photos for amature
photoshop mucking. More concerned about possibly reprinting,
restoring, backing up old photos.

I mostly care that it has Digital ICE (Kodak's scratch / defect
restoration system ?) and USB 2.0.

Do you think this is a suitable scanner (I think it goes
for around $129), or perhaps I should look at something
else in this category?

Sorry if something similar has been asked already - I looked
through groups.google.com and did not find anything.

Thanks very much,

denis

I've been looking at it too - for a 3200 ppi scanner with Digital ICE
the price is attractive.

The disadvantage is that it uses either the Lightlid 35 or the MTMA
for transparent material scanning. If you don't need transparency ro
negative scanning then it's not an issue.

I wish they had offered ICE in the ScanMaker 6100 Pro that has a good
4x5 transparency adapter. They do offer the i900 at a much higher
price.

So far the only reviews of the i320 I have seen are in German. My
experience with Microtek is generally good, though scan speeds are
slower than other brands.

I bought this scanner a few months ago when my older Microtek 5600 fried
itself. I am very happy with the scanner and the software. I had a large
project of scanning over 100 photos and really like the Deluxe Interface
that allows one scan pass for multiple photos. I believe there was a rebate
offered at the time, so I ended up getting it from Best Buy for just about
$100 (after the $20 rebate).
