I use Microtek scanmaker V6UPL scanner and have a few problems:
1) I scan books and this scanner is very easily interrupted by other
activities like editing the finished scans (using FineReader). I have
used another scanner but it does not stop temporarily when editing the
finished scans.
2) It has some short stops in one scan sometimes, but sometimes it goes
through one scan without any brief stops. Generally, it stops very
briefly once or twice during one scan. Under Windows XP with the new
driver, it stops every 1-2 inches. I have to use scanner driver 5.12
under Windows 2000 to have less brief stops. The same driver does not
work well with Windows XP. It would freeze every once a while that you
have to turn off and on the scanner (sometimes reboot the system) to
bring it back. The current driver is more stable, but it always stops
many times in one scan.
3) Sometimes when you resize a scanning area (like cutting it to half or
decrease the horizontal space), it would not scan properly. The result
page is multiple diagnol lines.
I have sent e-mails to their tech support but received no solution from
them. Is there a Microtek users group where people share tips and
tricks?
Thanks for the help,
