"Security is a top companywide priority for Microsoft Corp. This paper
outlines Microsoft's security focus and technology solution road map for
mitigating security risks to customers."

I hope plun will take a look at this--as it mentions at least one use of TPM
1.2.

It also discusses Microsoft Antispyware, Windows OneCare Live, and Microsoft
Client Protection.

Hi

Thanks for this doc. ;)

Windows Antispyware - OK.

TPM is still strange, why invest in this chip and not use
it for malicious code identifications ? And for DRM rights ?

Must be expensive to just protect a drive ? and within corporate
server environments these drives sits in a file server or a RAID
drive setup within a server. Seems really strange ???

Standalone PCs with a local drive are nowadays not used within modern
corporate IT environments.

Maybe they want to protect notebooks ? ;)

Or just home users ?

The way I read it, this is just for Enterprise environments. It'll protect
laptops left in taxi's, etc. Dell will charge extra to put the chip in
there, and the bits won't be in all versions of the client OS.

Now I can't swear that there won't be other uses of TPM, now or in the
future, but that enterprise level feature is all that I know about now.

Hi

Well it must be these "notebooks in TAXIs" then.

I cannot see any corporate needs for other client PCs beacuse
C: is blocked for the user and all files should be centrally server
stored. (within a modern IT architecture)

Plun,
There are a lot of small businesses and small networks who don't use central
storage. Probably more that don't than those that do.
