I have had to reinstall windows. For reasons I don't
understand the computer repair people didn't install
Windows XP from my software and my authenication numbers
aren't accepted when I tried to validate my windows
program....anyhow, (prior to having windows reinstalled I
had MSAS w/o any problems) now when I dl the program and
save to the hard drive or if I attempt to open the file
online I receive this error:

MicrosoftAntispywareInstall.exe is not a valid Win32
application.

Help?

Is the version of Windows installed now XP?

I'd strongly recommend that you attempt to get your system to pass the
Genuine validation now, or take it back to the folks who did the repair and
inform them about this issue. If your system passed validation before it
went into the shop, it should also pass validation after it comes back.

This process is optional now, but will become mandatory in the near future,
for some categories of downloads. You need to get this fixed, and the
repair shop are the ones who need to fix it for you.

Now--about the error message. I don't have a sure fix for this--I think
that it indicates an issue with the Windows Installer, perhaps.

One suggestion I can think of is to download the latest version
thereof--3.1v2. If you go to WindowsUpdate, that should be offered to you
as a critical update, I believe, or it can be found here:

see the link below "For other versions of Windows."

actually i have recieved that warning before with other
programs, it is windows passing the blame, don't
reinstall xp, try downloading the file again as it will
be corrupted, try downloading it a few times then see
what happens if it still won't work then maybe there is
more than one cause for this error message but it's the
only one i kno of

It's a good idea to try to download MSAS installer once more time, but
before this all temporary files should be deleted (those in C:\Documents and
Settings\username\local settings\temp and c:\Documents and
Settings\username\local settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5).

Instead you can use ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com) for this "dirty" job
:-)

After this cleaning try to download and install MSAS again.
And of course MSAS should be installed by user with administrator rights in
the system.
