I can't tell you how many potential clients (large and small) that run away
from development projects as soon as they hear MS SQL Server database and/or
IIS web server. They have so much fear that they want elaborate data
transfer schemes to keep the public side as removed as possible. It is a
tier system that has gone over the deep end -- way too many layers -- layers
added simply because of fear of security holes.
Microsoft, please please please do something about your security image. If
not for the sake of the developers using your products -- you need to help
keep us employable if you really want to make your products work. You need
us as much as we need you -- actually we don't NEED you as there are other
options (MySQL, Oracle, etc.).
