Hi please help I have microsoft xp on my comp but dont
seem to have the word processor or other office tools,
how do i get them, please help my son needs these to do a
topic for school he is only 11 years old thanks, eileen

Do and internet search for Open Office. It is a free set
of office tools that are just as good for the novice user
as Microsofts. If you want a simple word processor to
write documents and letters then get Abiword which is also
free. Do an internet search for them and download them.
Keep smiling.

If by "the word processor or other office tools," you mean
Microsoft Word and the rest of Microsoft Office, sorry to tell
you that neither Windows XP nor any other version of Windows has
ever come with Word or with any other significant application
software.
If you want Microsoft Office, you need to buy it.

Windows does come with Wordpad, but it's a very primitive word
processor--rather a slightly more capable text editor than
anything else. If your son is only 11, that may meet his needs.
If not, you can buy Microsoft Office, or another Office suite
such as Corel WordPerfect, StarOffice, or download the free
OpenOffice.

Do you have Microsoft Office? If not, you can purchase
this software at Office Depot. I think you just have
Microsoft XP the operating system. Microsoft XP Office
has the word processor, excel (spreadsheet), etc.

Greetings --

You would need to purchase and install such applications. WinXP,
as an operating system, naturally has no such capability, unless you
want to produce something rather crude using WinXP's native text
editors, NotePad and WordPad.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.
