I just had Microsoft home installed on my computer at home
and I can't find Microsoft word, powerpoint or excel.
Does this program contain these products? Do I need to
purchase Microsoft XP Professional to gets these products?

Thanks!

No. You need Microsoft Office XP. It contains all
the applications you mentioned. It's pretty expensive
though. You might be able to purchase just what you
need separately.

And you won't either!

No, and XP isn't a program per se, but rather an operating system, on which you can run programs.

XP Professional is also an operating system, with just a few more advanced features (mainly security) than Home has, and does not have Office products with it. You need to purchase and install Microsoft Office XP (2000 is cheaper, still available, and supported too). You would need to purchase the "Standard" version of OfficeXP to get the office programs you listed. Keep in mind, that no Office product has ever been part of any Windows operating systems, as they a totally separate products.

Bruce, get your pillocking words right, will you!

Those applications DO NOT have to be purchased and installed separately. They can be purchased bundled as in OfficeXP Standard (which has PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word). You'd have this poor girl buying separate pieces of Office software at an enormous cost!

Purchasing the programs separately would be much more expensive,
than buying them bundled in an Office Suite.

Obviously, "Ted", as I suggested in my response to
the OP, it's a balance between the cost of buying
the whole package of applications and the cost of
just the applications you need, purchased separately.
And, considering your reputation in this group, I
will not be continuing this discussion.
