microsoft works word processor

Hi
We've just got a new computer with microsoft works word
processor on it. When drawing a table, I find that I
can't merge cells, whereas on word97 on my last computer
I could do it very easily. Also, I cannot position page
numbers on the page. I've looked on the help section that
comes with word processor but it didnt help.
Please help

The Works suite is "primitive" compared to the Office suite, which includes
Word. I ran into this with its spreadsheet after using Excel; many options
that I used and needed were not there. But it is handy at times and has
other features Office doesn't.

Best bet is to buy and install the latest Word program (or Office-xp) as it
has your old options plus some. I have encountered no problem having both.

I understand that the recent retail versions of Works (2002 or 2003)
include a proper version of Word; but not integrated into the Works
startup utility. So it would be worth a look - an OEM installation may
though have left it out
