We have just upgraded to Windows XP. When I use
Microsoft Works to write a document (word processor)and
send it by e-mail. It goes, it clears scan but it cannot
be opened. Help!

I can still send from Microsoft Word (old documents) and
they can be opened.

Keep tuned to this group as you will undoubtably incur
many of the glitches XP has. As for your question, save
your Works Processing Doc's as .RTF files and that should
enable them to be opened.

Are you talking about the fact that the recipient of your email cannot open
the file? Have they got Works installed on their machine?
Or do you mean that YOU can't open the attachment in OE? Any error message?

Outlook Express?
The following is for the machine trying to open the document:
In OE go to Tools | Options | Security and uncheck "Do not allow
attachments...".

Please read these articles:

and http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/faqs/why.htm#oe6attach

This, of course, assumes that the machine has a program or viewer for that
type file.
