Downloaded the new Office XP Pro and now I cannot access my old personal files in microsoft works. I have the disc that
came with the computer and have tried reinstalling (after removing the program) Microsoft works a few times . Once it
did help for one day. Then the screen went back to saying that I need to have the "End User License Agreement"
displayed and it tells me to go back and reload the disc etc etc. It seems I have somehow lost my original license agreement with regard to this one program ( Microsoft Works) Everything else works fine on my computer. Including the
new Microsoft Office Pro 2003 program. Basically I just want to access my files and move them over to the new
Microsoft Word Processing Program. My photo files under Jpeg pull up just fine. Any ideas?

You give a lot of facts, many of the confusing to me.

1. You can't "download" Office XP pro from any legitimate internet
source. You have to buy it on CD and install from CD.

2. You don't say what is on the disc that came with the computer. Many
computer manufacturers deliver Microsoft Works with the set.

3. It is a mystery why the computer would request an End User License
Agreement. You don't say if you get it when you run Word or Works. It
could be from the pirate version of Office you say you downloaded? If
you downloaded Office, then you never had it.

Recommendations:

a. check for Works being already installed (Control Panel, Add or
Remove Software) and de-install it if you don't want it.
b. check what discs came with your computer. Look for Microsoft Works.
If you have it and you want it and you don't already have it,
install it.
c. based on (a), reinstall Works if you want it.
d. check that you have a disk for Office XP Pro. If not, go buy one
and install.
