I didn't know where to post this question, so i posted it
here. My question is about Microsoft Word. I noticed
that when I upgraded my Windows I no longer had Microsoft
Word. I had Wordpad. Is their anyway to get Microsoft
Word back? It helped with my school work alot better then
Wordpad. Any help on how to get it back?!?!

Microsoft Word has never come with windows for free, some computer
manufacturers had included it as part of their system.

Microsoft is not a part of any operating system. It is a separate and
distinct software program. If you don't have the original Microsoft Word CD,
you will have to buy it, or buy one of the Microsoft office suites which
includes Word, such as Microsoft Office or Microsoft Works.

oooh ok.. well thank you

As a student you might qualify for an Academic version of Microsoft Office.
These are sold to students at a very reduced price. Check with a local
computer store that sells software to see if you qualify. Another option is
to purchase MS Works 2004. It comes with Microsoft Word. If cost is a
problem and it can be for lots of students then you might be satisfied with
an alternative to Microsoft Word. Open Office is a free suite of programs
that can open and save files in the Microsoft format. This is a 50MB
download but well worth it http://www.openoffice.org/

Unfortunately the Open Office spellchecker does not integrate into Outlook
Express but a free speller from here will

You did a clean install and wiped the previous applications.
An upgrade would have kept WORD.

You'll have to re-install WORD.

Greetings --

If you performed an in-place upgrade from an earlier edition of
Windows, and Word was already installed, it's still there. You'll
probably need to reinstall it, though, so it can add the necessary
functions it needs for use on a multi-user OS. If you performed a
clean installation (iow, wiped out the hard drive before installing
WinXP), Word was erased along with everything else. Simply re-install
it from the original CD.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.
