But it. Word is not part of XP, or any other M$ OS.

Greetings --

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase either Microsoft Word as a stand-alone application, or a
copy of either the Microsoft Works _Suite_ (not the standard Works) or
the Microsoft Office suite. (The Works Suite is probably the best
value.)

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in PC's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install application and desired additional
features.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

WORD is included with WORKS SUITE at about $80-100.

??? Are you sure????

Microsoft Works is a load of crap!! Microsoft Word is a more full featured
word processor than Microsoft Works Word Processor!! Works crashes to
often, it is a waste of hard drive space and you would be better off using
something like Open Office, or buying the *real* Microsoft Word!

Erm, yes, he's sure.

Microsoft Works is a load of crap!! Microsoft Word is a more full
featured word processor than Microsoft Works Word Processor!!

Word /is/ the word processing application in the Works *Suite*.

Works
crashes to often, it is a waste of hard drive space and you would be
better off using something like Open Office, or buying the *real*
Microsoft Word!

Erm, it *IS* the "real Microsoft Word". Suggest you learn the difference
between Works and the Works Suite before you go shouting your mouth off.

And Works doesn't "crash too often". Can't blame Works for the fact your PC
is shit.

Microsoft "Word" is included with "Microsoft Office", at
about $399.00 USD for the full standard version (retail).
(If you are a student or teacher, you may qualify for the educational
discounted version, at around $150.00 USD)

"Microsoft Works" (latest is version 7.0) includes it's own word
processor (not "Word"), at about $55.00 USD ..... *OR*.....

"Microsoft Works Suite" at about $99.00 USD, contains all of Microsoft
"Works", along with a host of other programs, *including* Microsoft
"Word", "Money", "Picture It", "Encarta", etc..

There are many people who prefer "Works" to "Office".... It depends
entirely on what their needs are.. I find "Works" no more "buggy" or
otherwise unstable than "Office".

JM

Bad hardware crashes, Windows XP, WORD, OFFICE, WORKS
applications are fairly stable. Bad RAM can cause random
crashes, as can a hard drive that is failing.

Since the comment "Are you sure" was aimed at me, Yes, I'm
sure.
