Microsoft Word, Trying to insert filename

I am trying to insert the filename in a document. When I
select insert on the menu bar,go to auto text, and then
go to header/footer the menu does not appear to insert
the file name. The only thing that pops up is a little
box with no choices. Is this a software problem or is
there a problem with my computer?
 
I'd try "Help", "Detect and Repair" if that doesn't fix it, try posting
the question in a Word or Office newsgroup and also add Version info of
Word and any service packs applied.
