Hello

I'm having trouble logging into microsoft word on XP.
Every time I try to log into word a box appears
saying "Microsoft word for Windows has encountered a
problem and needs to close". It then asks me to send
an "Error Report", which I do. I was then advised to
update word which i did but I'm still unable to log into
word, the same error box keeps appearing. I've tried
repairing word using my original product cd and deleting
and instaling, but still the same problem.

Does anyone have a solution please?

Make sure your system is set to view hidden files and folders. Go to
Start/Control Panel, Appearance and Themes/Folder Options. Go to the View
tab. Click next to Show hidden files and folders. Uncheck Hide extensions
for known file types. OK your way out. Now go to Start Search and search
on your C drive for a file entitled "normal.dot". (No need for the quotes.)
When you find it, highlight it and delete it. Then try opening Word again.
It should recreate Normal.dot.
