I've been trying to "activate" Microsoft Word on my computer, but it's not
working. Everytime I get on it, it tells me I need the product key. I put it
in (it's the 25 digit one by the battery, right) and it tells me it's
invalid. What should I do? Now it's telling me it's locked.

The key you are attempting to use is for the operating system. if you had
any CDs supplied with your system, look closely at them for an MS Office
product key..

No, it isn't. Any Product Key attached to the computer will be that of
Vista, not Office or Word.

It sounds as if you had an evaluation copy of Office or Word installed.
There will have been instructions on how to purchase a full license
and use it's Product Key to upgrade and activate that evaluation
license. Look in the documentation that came with the computer.

The version of Word that came with your computer was a trial version. You
were not provided with a product key.
In order to continue to use Word, you must either purchase a product key or
buy either the standalone version of Word
or Microsoft Office, which includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
