The experts in the Office and/or Windows XP newsgroups may know for certain, but...
My guess is that your volume is formatted NTFS and that you do not have the proper
rights to the root directory. By default, on a Windows XP system only users in the
Administrators group have the permission setting needed in order to open, edit, and
save a Word document in the root directory on the system drive. For more information
