Hi,

I am using a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse on my Dell Inspiron
1525 with Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1.

When I click on the mouse program, I get the following message:

Some mouse settings might not work until you connect a
Microsoft mouse to a USB port on your computer or set up a
Microsoft mouse that uses Bluetooth technology.

I have the receiver plugged into a USB port and have switched ports also and
it seems to work OK except that I set the wheel button to close and that
only works some of the time.

I also get the Safely Remove Hardware Icon bouncing in and out of my system
tray every few seconds. Don't know if this is caused by the mouse or
something else.

I have updated the driver.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was having a similar problem with a Microsoft Optical Mouse. Turns out
Microsoft Vista and the Microsoft Optical Mouse have compatibility issues.
Go figure. Anyway, you may want to try updating the software for the
mouse. That worked for me. Good luck.
