Microsoft Windows XP Pro

Hi, I've recently acquired a copy of Windows XP Pro. Can
anyone tell me if this includes word, excel, powerpoint
etc or is it just an operating system? Thanks.

Just the operating system, and no version of Windows ever came with the MS Office apps as part of them.

You're right is it just an operating system?

You have to buy Word, Exel, PowerPoint.. etc.. separately.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of any Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

It is just an OS. Those programs are the Office applications suite -
there is a version called Office XP, but the XP is just a marketing
name. And Office 2000 would do the job perfectly well if you can still
find it. Or an earlier one for that matter if you have a copy around
