I appear to have lost the spell check and Theasaurus facility on my Windows.
Anyone got any ideas?

Which application you're referring to, Vin?

Windows comes with neither spell-checking capabilities nor a thesaurus.
*Some* applications have one or both of these. In what application(s) are
you looking for and failing to find these? Were spell-checking and the
thesaurus there before? When did they disappear? What did you do before they
disappeared?

Sorry - it's Word. I notice that the help facility has gone as well. A
message appears saying I need to load them from a Microsoft Office disc.

Re-run the setup/repair. You can choose those optional components this time.

Ramesh I'm sorry but you're dealing with a novice here. How do I re-run the
setup/repair? All these functions were there last time I used Word.

From the Help menu in Word, choose "Detect and Repair". You should be able to choose Spelling and Thesaurus options in setup.

Ramesh. "Detect & Repair" just gives me the same message as the others -
"Micro Office XP Pro disc with front page required". Office Newsgroup doesn't
address this problem. Realise I'm testing your patience now - sorry.

Vin,

For repairing Office components, you need the setup CD. Insert the Microsoft Office XP CD-ROM in your computer's CD-ROM drive and proceed.

Did you not get any response to your question there?
