microsoft wheel mouse problem

Have my Microsoft 2 button Wheel mouse set to move one line at a time.

When I scroll using the wheel, VERY frequently, a page I scrolled past
will open up like I had double clicked on it. Occasionally, more than
a dozen pages will try to open.

I had this problem with Win98 se, and 2 different reformats and
reinstalling Win XP home. So I don't think it is the OS causing the
problem.

Any ideas how to stop this. All I want the wheel to do is scroll when
I roll it.

you could try another mouse or go to control panel and look for the mouse
icon and open, there are setting which you can change, to set the scroll of
the mouse.

Checked that, all appears normal.
