On Windows XP, there appear to be two different WebDAV agents that are used
to access WebDAV servers. One identifies itself as
"Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/5.1.2600". The other identifies itself as
"Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider Cache Manager".
The WebDAV server that I am using requires a cookie to provide access. The
cookie is already set in my browser. When IE makes a WebDAV request, it
starts out by using the Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/5.1.2600 agent. This
agent does not send the cookies from my browser to the web server and
therefore access is denied. For some reason, IE switches to the Microsoft
Data Access Internet Publishing Provider Cache Manager agent which send the
cookie and then the DAV access starts working.
Is this a bug in the Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/5.1.2600 agent (since it is
not sending cookies)?
If there is a better forum to post this question in, please let me know.
