I just ran MS spyware tool finding nothing, followed by NoAdaware finding
nothing, then spybot finding multiple "problems". I have a snapshot of the
results.

Spybot S&D is probably finding cookies on your
system which MS Antispyware at this stage doesnt scan for.

If it was really spyware then MS Antispy would detect some part of it when
it scanned, Microsoft already offer's alot of choice regarding cookies and
they are not a threat to your system as they contain no code.

Clear all your cookies then test the other applications and see if they
still find prºblems.

You can delete cookies easily by going to start menu > C:/drive > Documents
and Settings > YourUsername > Cookies and opening that folder.
Delete any you dont want from there.

Another option is open a IE browser window and go to
tools on the top bar, choose Internet Options then press delete cººkies.

Third option is from the same page (Internet Options) press the Privacy Tab
and click Advanced - Here you can block and restrict cookies getting onto the
system but they are very usefull to remember settings & usernames on sites so
only restrict third party cookies if you use that optiºn.

If you think the other applications are finding Spyware/Adware that MS
Antispy isnt detecting then post the scan results from each scªnner.

For Spybot, click Recovery to list what has been removed except cººkies

Antispyware vendors do not share a common definition of what constitutes
spyware.

I suspect that most of what you have in your snapshot will be cookies, which
Microsoft Antispyware does not selectively scan for. However, there are
other significant areas of difference of opinion between antispyware
vendors, so it wouldn't surprise me to see, say, BackWeb Lite on your list
from Spybot Search & Destroy, and not on the list from other vendors.
(Personally, I agree with the "other vendors" on that one.)

See note on "No Adware" below -

Note your must register to post.

As Bill Sanderson was saying, no two Anti-Spyware vendors share the same
criteria or database - though it's good practice to run more than one Spyware
scanner - of which there are several of mention, one being SpyBot.

Hello

the 29/11 under "what kind of test" i said approximativly the same
airchamber and me we don't speak about cookies... You always are comming to
say that spybot and adware find cookies and you not. Ok, but they find very
other things that you find not....
I think also that they are good and not good cookies and they find the not
good cookies.
You said there is a way to kill the cookies in microsoft, ok , but they are
cookies that save parameter and if we remove thew we must fill again certain
zone

Hello,
why do you not the same tests as spybot and perhaps why not better test ?
i just run msas and you find imesh and messenger plus (ignore - moderate).
Then i run spybot and i receive 4 problèmes "advertising.com, avenue a.inc,
doubleclick, mediaplex", plus 3 messages "windows security center antivirus
disablenotify, windows security center antivirusoverride, windows security
center firewalldisablenotify"
Why this difference in the tests ? The idea is to have ONE program and why
not msas and not five program to clear all those spyware. The most people
have ONE antivirus an not 5 why not the same with spyware?
I ask you already why do you not tests over override from specific key
register you answer me but i see that spybot do it. You are better to do that
kind of test. I ask not all key register but you know better that anybody
which key are important. I know we may have change these key, but we can
always uncheck the modification from msas and if you see anything that we i
not see it is good thing for us.
