Runtime Library Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

or

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.
If none of that helps, try uninstalling the Google toolbar

I'm getting the same error after using Automatic Update to install KB093235
and KB901214. I'm looking for help with this problem.

Same error message is appearing on my laptop. First appeared on 8/7, had
been using IE the evening before without a problem. I can still access
Internet with other browers. Tried to debug by following similar guidance
from reports found on Windows Update site for Runtime Errors caused by other
programs, but no joy. Looking for a good clean solution...

I'm having the exact same problem too. How do I remove Google toolbar if I
cannot launch IE?

thanks.

Go in under the Control Panel and start the application for Add or Remove
Programs. Once started you will get a list of all the applications you have
installed, including toolbars that operate under IE.

I have the same issue. I've deinstalled the Google toolbar, don't have Kaza
and continue to have the issue.

HELP!

I have the same issue. I've deinstalled the Google toolbar, don't have Kaza
and still cannot launch IE with different logins.

HELP!

My problem is similar but different. Same error message, but the product is
not IE, but MS_Update.exe! This may need to be referred to a different
newsgroup, but I've searched the Windows Update newsgroup, and didn't see
anyone talking about this bug. It started right after I installed the latest
WinXP updates. I have uninstalled the Google toolbar, and run a
spyware/malware sweep. I'm running a 2nd sweep now, just to double-check.

This is malware -
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/ms_updateexe-9125.html

Use Ad-Aware, Windows Defender and/or Spybot Search & Destroy to remove it.

Windows Defender (beta)

Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Also download a winsock repair tool, to have just in case cleaning up
anything found breaks it -

Winsock2 Fix- Win98, ME

If no joy, in IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Browsing
section, uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions", click Apply, click
Okay, reboot. If that solves your problem, then more troubleshooting is
needed to find out exactly which program, or Browser Helper Object (BHO) is
causing this problem. You don't want to leave it at that, as some BHOs are
useful or necessary - like Adobe Acrobat for reading .pdf files or an
essential component of Norton AV. Get BHODemon -
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm - read all about BHOs.
Disable all items, and then gradually replace one or two at a time to narrow
down the culprit.

Or if you have IE 6 SP-2 you can do this within the browser:

If all the above fails, then the problem could be something new that the
spyware cleaners above don't have in their databases yet. In that case....

That is a terrific answer! Very thorough, I love it. Thank you very much.
Don't know if it helps, yet, but really good.

Just so you know, I'm using IE7b3. I have run Windows Defender, Spybot, and
the online Trend-Micro spyware scanner on it, and none of these have found
this bug, so if it is malware apparently it is something new.

I'll try these other suggestions tonight. Thanks again.

Hi, I see some usefull information here, but I am not sure it addresses DK's
issue of this happening under different logins. I have that issue. If one
login opens IE and you login another user and he tries to use IE. YOu get he
runtime error that has been mentioned over and over. Have you run into this
issue?
Thanks,
LPRX

I followed your suggestions but I still have the issue with IE / Explorer and
Outlook. Only one person can open than at anytime and the other user accounts
get the runtime errors. Did you find any other causes on your travels since?

TIA
Steve
