Well... I just came across this posting in my desparate search for a
solution to a similar problem. I am getting the same error - except it
is not for IE but rather for a different application - "The Print Shop
Premier Edition 5.0".
For those who may wonder "You are still using v5.0 when there is
v20.0 available?", let me explain that this program came with my
Epson printer and my kids got used to it, running on XP previously
without any problem before I upgraded their computer and re-installed
the OS and all other apps cleanly. I have no intention to buy the
latest version.
For the benefit of all, I am posting here my solution (it all involves
setting what's called Permission/Security in Windows XP):
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Broderbund Software\The Print Shop Family:
edit->permissions-> 'Full Control' for 'Users'.
C:\Program Files\The Print Shop Products:
security -> 'Modify' for 'Users'.
C:\Program Files\The Print Shop Products\The Print Shop Premier
Edition 5.0\Userlock:
security -> 'Full Control' for 'Users'.
Works now, but displays about 10 dialogs (in succession):
=> "Acrobat PDFWriter Error" "Out of memory, job canceled"
Went to Acrobat PDFWriter Properties anc changed port from LPT1 to
FILE.
Then:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\__PDF.INI
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\2\__PDF.INI
security -> 'Modify' for 'Users'.

I loaded Printshop 11.
It runs fine under my administrator account. But when my daughter tries to
run it under her limited account (or even after I change her account to an
administrator account), I get this error message:

The application has requested the run time to terminate it in an unusual
way. . . .
