Please help! I recently got a Sony camcorder with memory
stick and an HP psc 1350 printer with memory stick slot
to transfer images directly into my computer. The problem
is, every time I attempt to transfer images from the
memory stick, I get the following message:
The heading is Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. The
message says Runtime Error. Program: C:\Program
Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Unload\hpqPHUNL.exe. The
application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in
an unusual way. Please contact the application's support
team for more information. I spent three hours on the
phone with the HP support technician, and still have the
same problem. Can anyone help me with this problem?
Thanks! If it helps, I have a 1 1/2 year old HP Pavilion
and Windows XP.

Have you downloaded service pack 1 from Microsoft? A few
weeks ago, while I was at the HP site, I noticed that they
had a patch for Microsoft's SP1. I have no idea if this
would apply to your situation.

Often the problem with new hardware will be with the
drivers - but it's hard to imagine the HP service tech not
checking on that.

You should ALWAYS install the Microsoft updates. Go to

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

and click the 'Scan for updates' button. Sometimes you
have to refresh the page to get the button to appear. Put
this on your 'Favorites' and check it regularly.

Other things to consider:

You should have a good anti-virus program that you update
and run weekly. It should have an auto-protect feature
which you should use.

You should have something to protect your computer from
Spyware/trojans/etc. Search for Ad-Aware and SpyBot on
Google - they're both free. Update and use daily.

If you don't already have a firewall) or use a product
such as Zone Alarm (find via Google) then activate the XP
firewall (run Help and Support and search 'firewall'
(without the quotes).

Don't remain a 'newby' - knowledge really is power.
