All of a sudden, support.microsoft.com appears with Live Search and when I
attempt to use advanced options, nothing appears. This is a killer because
the Live Search option is searching every product and will not allow me to
isolate search to a specific product. Help!

Click on the Select a Product button? They are just hiding some of the implementation
details that you used to have to be aware of to do searches on specific products.

E.g. notice what happens if I choose product IE7 and do a search.
Just as before with an Advanced Search the URL contains a &SPID=
parameter which limits searching to articles which have been coded
as being related to that particular product ID (or group of product IDs).
(My guess is that code would have been automatically inserted
when the article's Applies To: list was created.)

Perhaps instead of taking those two or more steps to get the right
product ID linked into your search you could also memorize those codes
and then build your own search URL which contained them? I haven't
bothered testing that idea yet. <w> I usually find it sufficient just to use
Live Search with site:support.microsoft.com and enough other keywords
to specify what I'm trying to find. YMMV.
