Microsoft software problem

I have just started having problems with all my microsoft programs. I can not
insert pictures in to Microsoft Pub and Word. When I hit the insert from file
button the program freezes. I can insert clipart. When I work on older files
the program also freezes. None of my other programs seems to have problems. I
have tried uninstall and reinstall but still no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks
in advance for the help.
