Running Windows XP Home, 1 in 3 times I boot my machine
it tells me there is an unrecognized USB device. The
guilty party is my sidewinder joystick. If I unplug it
and plug it back in a couple of times, it works fine. I
know a couple of people with the same problem with a
sidewinder.
I have read somewhere on the net that this is due to
static buildup, and that Microsoft recommend you don't
keep them plugged in until you need them. Apparently
there is a Microsoft web-page admitting this problem
exists, but I can't find it.
Can anyone confirm whether this is true, and point me to
the web-page please
