THOMAS MAGUIRE

I have just opened a file which seemed to be from
microsoft regarding a security alert (copy of e-mail
below) and my e-mail's are now going
crazy. just received 59 e-mails notifying me of
undelivered e-mails.

How do I get rid of this virus/problem?

Help!

Thomas..

The emails which purport to be from Microsoft and come with attachments are
NOT from Microsoft. The attachments are virus infected and, if opened, will
infect your computer. Of course, your anti-virus software should be telling
you that. Do not open the attachments and delete these emails immediately.

The "undeliverable email" notices, as well as the emails purporting to be
from Microsoft, are coming from computers which are infected by one of the
email viruses currently circulating - i.e., the user DID open one of the
attachments.

The three most common email viruses are:

W32.Swen.A_mm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

W32.Dumaru_mm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

W32.Gibe_mm
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

If your attempts to fix Swen are not working, then perhaps you have one of
the others.
