I'm using Win XP. No longer have a need for password
protection as administrator [no other users], so removed
it from "User Accounts" menu [did not want to type in
password at every startup]. As a result, Microsoft
Scheduler no longer works. Have tried everything I know
to regain use of Scheduler -- to no avail. I get this
message: "The task did not run because an incorrect
password or username was entered." Also: on 3 other
tasks to be run: "could not start." Can someone please
help me?

First download TweakUI from this location:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
and then install it.

Then, go back and ADD your password back into your account. Many
Microsoft Scheduler events require that apassowrd be active before it
will run the event.

Now, using the TweakUI utility (You'll be able to use it from its icon
found in the Control Panel), go to the LOGON tab and fill in your
login name and password. NOW, click on the box that says: "Logon
automatically at system startup". Then re-boot the machine.
Your scheduled events should now run fine.
