Yesterday I got an automatic update from Microsoft that
was a tool to remove the MyDoom virus or worm or whatever
it is, which said that if I had received this update it
was because I probably had MyDoom on my computer. How
could I get MyDoom since I have router, ZoneAlarm Pro,
Norton's Antivirus, Spybot S&D, Spyware Guard, Spy Blaster
and Adaware. All of which I use and update regularly?
When I went to Microsoft Update to check to see if this
was for real I got the same message. So I installed the
tool and when I looked at the log this is what it said:

Microsoft MyDoom removal tool (build 1.227) started on Thu
Aug 12 18:19:12 2004
Checking 49 processes.
Checking startup registry keys for current user.
Checking keys for 5 other users
Deleted registry key
80000002:Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell
Checking known MyDoom filenames.
**** No MyDoom infection found ****
Microsoft MyDoom removal tool stopped on Thu Aug 12
18:19:16 2004

Note that it said **No MyDoom infection found***! So why
did I get this tool and more importantly what was the
registry key that it deleted? Thanks

I didn't have anything useful in my registry at that level, but when I
deleted this I stopped (repeatedly) getting this update. So you post
was of great aid, thanks!
