My brother gave me just the keyboard. I bought a blue tooth piece to sync
with the keyboard. I bought new batteries for the keyboard however the power
light does not turn on at all. I read behind the keyboard about placing a
remote control 2cm away from the keyboard but I just dont understand. At
least I would feel more comfortable if I saw some sort of lights blinking
when I press any buttons. Is my keyboard broken??

Im not sure but I really dont think that will work...
I have used the same exact keyboard and the USB bluetooth that it has is
made specifically for the keyboard,
it even have a "sync" button so it can sinc with the keyboard...

give the keyboard back to your brother next Christmas as a gift.
You may need drivers for it.

These keyboards use an ifrared USB dongle about the size of a deck of cards,
which is also used by the Media Center remote. When you push a button on
remote (and I presume keyboard) a red LED flashes on the reciever (dongle).
Look on Ebay for Microsoft PC Media Center Remote - if you get one make sure
it comes with reciever. I recently bought one to use with Vista Premium -
nicely controls Media Center and Media player (I don't have keyboard.) It
does not work with non-Media Center XP, and may need Vista Premium or
Ultimate.
