Since I've dowloaded MS Antispyware, I've yet to be able
to run even the first scan. It runs, shows spyware that I
want to delete, then freezes up, always at the same
place. Any Help?
 
Can you tell us what it spots, before it freezes?

There is some spyware that the current beta doesn't handle well.

You may need to scan with another product to get this cleaned before a scan
with Microsoft Antispyware can complete.

One that may be worth trying is Trend Micro's online scanner:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com

What may be happening is that there are registry keys set with permissions
such that even an administrator cannot open them--you can take posession of
them and then change the permissions, but this requires some effort, and is
somewhat difficult on XP Home, for example.

I don't know for certain that Housecall will manage this, but I think it is
worth trying.
 
Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

Save it to C:\hjt (new folder) then Open it and select
Scan and Save Log. Note where you saved the log then
send it to me as an attachment. Put Hijack in the subject
so I'll know it's not spam.

Hello

I have the same problem.
My OS is Windows XP with SP2.
I start MS anti-spyware, the graphics showing folders
start moving very fast then go very slow and then freeze.
Always freeze when
scaning "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/KAZAA. I uninstall
kazza but I can't delete this registry manually.
Also, i get some message about "windows is increasing the
virtual memory". I increase the page folder to 3GB and
run again and the same problem repeat.

PLEASE HELP

Hi

Reboot in safe mode and scan again.
Press F8 during reboot.

I reboot in safe mode and scan again but the problem
continue. Computer freeze during registry scan at key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/KAZAA

Can't delete this from registry manually.
Run Registry Mechanic = do not detected
Run Ad-Aware = do not detected
Run Registry cleaner = detected but after reboot it come
again.

Strange !

Did you choose fullscan with all options checked ?

Also remove all your temporarily files before scanning.
This tool can be used Ccleaner, www.ccleaner.com
Note that you have 3 different cleaning tabs.

Also change settings (Options) so CCleaner also removes newer
temp files then 48 hours.

Have you updated Lavasoft Adaware ?, "check for updates" within main screen
?

Run all of these apps in safe mode !
