I have the version with the extra fish - and, when it activates (after 5
minutes of inactivity), the aquarium shows for about one second - then the
desktop returns. What could cause this? Thanks......

PS: The same thing might happen with other screensavers (Just thought of
this so I haven't tried them yet).

It means something starts in the background causing the system to not be
inactive. What is set in scheduled tasks? Any programs set to access
the internet every few minutes to look for something? Could be malware
too.

I have Mailwasher Pro set to check for mail every 5 minutes. I'll try
turning it off and report back to you.

My issue happens *all* the time even though my scheduled tasks aren't set to
run until after midnight.

As far as I know, I have no malware on my system (I check for this almost
every day).

I have a number of things running in the background but have no idea if and
when they might be trying to access the Internet and don't know how to
figure that out.

My Zone Alarm icon shows that there is almost constant traffic with the
Internet.

I shut down one program at a time - and the Internet traffic stopped after
shutting down Limewire.

Hello
I use Limewire and I always disconnect it when I'm not downloading.
The disconnect button is on the drop down menu in the top left corner under
file.
You can also set it to connect only when you start it up which is what I do.

Ok good detecting. Did that reslove the problem with the screen saver?

What are all you people talking about???

program activity does NOT stop a screensaver.

You are probably using a mouse that is wireless
or it is optical and the surface that the mouse is
on is reflective

Sorry, but, even though I have a Bluetooth mouse, it was not the culprit. A
connection to the Internet with traffic in and out of my PC seemed to be
causing the problem. I shut down Limewire and Mailwasher Pro - and the
problem stopped.

That's theory, but is not always correct in practice.
Even though program activity shouldn't stop or prevent a screensaver - only
user input does - some programs might simulate user input to prevent the
computer from going into suspend, which is also based on an inactivity
timeout.

yes i know... i use a program called nosleep! for disabling the
sceensaver when i want.
I just assumed that he would not have such an app
