Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express

Hi,
is there a safe way to remove one or both of these programs from my
computer? I'm running XP with SP2 and I don't use either of these
programs, so they're just taking up space on my hard drive. I realize
that Internet Explorer is integrated into the operating system, but
what about the two Outlooks?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes.

Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office so if you ever want to use any part of
Office(Word, Excel, etc) you'll have to leave it installed.

As far as Outlook Express go to Start | Control Panel | click 'Add and
Remove Programs' | in the left pane click 'Add and remove Windows componets',
Uncheck 'Outlook Express' and click Next.

You can remove Outlook!! Go to control panel and choose "Add or Remove
Programs and Windows components". Click on the Microsoft Office line and
then choose to add or remove components. You will have the opportunity to
remove Outlook from there.

You can remove both Outlook and Outlook express.
Outlook you remove from the Add/Remove section in Control panel (should be
under Microsoft office)
Outlook express you need to open Add/Remove in control panel and then click
the icon on the left of the add/remove window marked 'add/remove windows
components' In the windows component wizard scroll down the list until you
come to Outlook express and then remove the check mark from the box on the
left of the outlook express option. Click the Next button and Outlook
express will be removed.

Regarding the removal of Outlook Express, doesn't that just remove user
access to Outlook Express, but not actually physically remove it?

(My Outlook Express entry in 'add/remove windows components' shows 0.0 MB -
as does my entry for Internet Explorer - which implies that Outlook Express
is also integrated into the operating system)

question though: John Paul indicated in his reply that removing
Outlook would mess up my use of MS Word. Is that the case, or is it
safe to delete by the process you outlined?

If there is an option to remove only Outlook it should be fine. In my case
The only option is to uninstall the entire Microsoft Office.

I'm curios (OK Nosey!), WHY do U want to remove both OL and OE? What will
you use for e-mail?

If there is an option to remove only Outlook it should be fine. In my case
The only option is to install the entire Microsoft Office.

Depending on the version. Easiest way is to put your Office CD in and
Office will ask if you want to modify your installation. Tel it yes,
un-check the Outlook checkmark, and have a go. It will remove Outlook and
leave your other programs alone. At least it did for me on Office 2003.
 
The specialist in your name has proompted me to reply to you to see if you
have a solution for a nagging problem we are having with Outlook Express v6.
When running it on a Dell Dimension laptop, Outlook crashes about every
twenty minutes. The laptop does not use Outlook when off-site so I don't
know if this happens outside of the office. We have a Win2K server and WinXP
on the laptop with SP2. The laptop just freezes periodically when in Outlook
only. This morning and yesterday the blue screen presented itself in
Outlook. Rebooting the system clears everything for another twenty minutes
or so. The laptop is using 50% of it's resources and has been cleaned up of
any excessive files and defragged leaving 50% of space available on a 30GB
harddrive. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank
