When attempting to access Microsoft Outlook, the error
message
"Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable" is produced.

When I attempt to work offline, the error message
"Unable to open your default email folders. Your profile
is not configured"

Then the error message "Would you like to open your
default file system folder instead?"
comes up. I respond yes.

It then allows me to search the computer for this file but
I do not know where it is.

Please advise:
1. How I make the Microsoft Exchange Server available
2. How I configure my profile
3. Where my default file system folder is.

Thank you

First things first, does your organization actually use Exchange as its mail
server? If not, remove the Exchange account and add an account appropriate
for your server.

I have this problem as well.
We are using exchange 5.5 and Outlook 2003. All is well
when using outlook xp and it can connect to the mail
server and check names.
Upgraded to Outlook 2003 the mail server name still
appears in the Exchange Server Settings, The name of your
exchange server. However when I click on the check names
I get the Outlook could not log on. Check to make sure
you are connected to the network and are using the

proper server and mailbox name. The connection to the
Microsoft Exchange server is unavailable. Outlook must be
online or connected to complete this action.

I can Ping the mail server from the command line. I can
see the exchange server if I browse the network. I have
added the exchange server to the hosts file. I have
checked the RPC setting as per previous posts and they
seem to be there.
