Hi,

When i select my mailbox and then select archive from file menu and select a
valid archive criteria. It says archiving but this process only archives
folder structures not email messages.

Does anyone know what is wrong with outlook archive ?

Thanx

Perhaps you don't have anything old enough to archive yet. Outlook archives
according to the Modified date.

Hi,

Besides the data settings of the Archive, I suggest you perform a test to
check the issue again:

1. Highlight Inbox, click File on the menu bar, and click Archive.
2. Set the Archive items older than yesterday, and click to check the
option besides Include items with "Do not AutoArchive" checked.
3. Press OK to check the issue again.

Outlook does not archive as expected because the date that is used to
determine when an item is archived depends on the type of item. Each item
has a Modified field associated with it. It is not possible to view the
Modified field in some of the standard views, for example the
Day/Week/Month calendar view. To view the modified field of any item:

1. On the View menu, point to Current View, and then click By Category.
2. On the View menu, point to Current View, and then click Customize
Current View.
3. Click Fields, and then click "All Mail fields" in the "Select available
fields from box".
4. Under Available Fields, click Modified, and then click Add to place the
Modified field in the "Show these fields in this order" box.
5. Click Move Up or Move Down to position the Modified field, click OK, and
then click OK.

The modified date and time for each item appears in the By Category view.

I've been having the same problems since our corporate version of
Office was upgraded from XP to 2003. Archiving was working fine
(fantastic actually) with Office XP.

I have checked the modified date and that is old enough to have my
messages archived. I have auto-archiving set to run every 7 days, and
to prompt me (so I know when its going to try at least.) I have
settings for each individual folder to archive to specific folders,
setting 2 weeks as the archive date.

When I use File->Archive and tell it to archive all folders according
to their settings, Outlook just goes through the motions but nothing
is moved out. Even the little status message in the lower right runs
through all the files and I get a finished type message.

When I go to the individual folders and use the "Archive Items Older
Than: <date>," archiving works as expected. Just not the
auto-archiving.

I have tried just setting a global setting (apply to all folders) and
to archive to an Outlook created archive pst file, but that doesn't
work either.

Does anyone know the permission the "Outlook Archive User" runs as?
Perhaps there are permission access errors? However since it works
properly when I do folders individually, I wouldn't expect this to be
the issue.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance!
