45pages later & here's MY post, for what it's worth. I am
now among those having problems who feel their's is the
only instance of its occurance: closer to home I guess.
The dialup connection wizard has a window with (1),
(2),etc., listings of mail accounts. My shot at a solution
obviously created them and didn't solve the problem:
Opening outlook with an active connection, clicking on
send/receive, I am asked in a box, to enter my password &
offered to remember it with a checkbox. In the control
panel/mail settings, properties, I have entered my isp
password., as I have done also from the menu tab, accounts,
and, as long as I manually enter it, I can check and send
mail, but as soon as I close outlook and reopen it, it
resets to an unknown and much longer password (the *'s
just all look alike to me, ..) than what I have
established with my isp.
What is my problem?(computer sci degree notwithstanding)-
is this solvable? If so, steps, etc., will be greatly
appreciated,.. and I did update while at the m'soft site,
from the 40bit to 128 encryption, so I do assume it quite
possible someone planted something here that I would
rather not have running in the background, that spybot and
a computer shop in town both failed to pickup on.. any
suggestions for a visit to hackerwhacker? Or is an fdisk
the real and only solution? I'd like to put that off a
week or so, anyway. Thanks, all help much appreciated in
advance. Hope I gave sufficient detail and maybe even
entertained a little.. 886 :-)

The "extra" asterisks are provided for "password masking" and have no
relation to the actual password length. It is a "security feature".
