I can't use Microsoft word,it says that it has been
locked.
And the microsoft office programs( word excel access...)
seems do not work

sometimes you need to enter the code from the back of the
disk that you dowloaded it from...try that

You do not download software from CD's, you install it.

Picky, picky, picky. Grammar and usage corrections have never been
known to solve technical problems such as those addressed in the
original posting. :)

Greetings --

Under normal circumstances, I'd be inclined to agree with you that
grammar and usage corrections don't solve technical problems.
However, such corrections _are_ sometimes necessary. Before anyone
can offer a viable solution, he/she must know the nature of the true
problem.

For instance, in this case, "download" and "install" have such
radically different and mutually-exclusive meanings that the careless
substitution of one word for the other completely alters the meaning
of the sentence/question, and thereby greatly reduces the original
poster's odds of getting a useful answer.

What you say is certainly true. However David B's correction is
very different from the ordinary grammar and usage corrections
you sometimes see. He's explaining what a technical term means.
If someone asks a question and uses a technical term incorrectly,
he runs the risk of being misunderstood and getting an incorrect
answer. So in my view, that kind of correction is a very valuable
one.

Point well taken - but in years of teaching at various levels, I've
found that the WAY something is said often is more effective than the
content. Dave is correct, of course, but his wording came across as
somewhat brusque; someone not used to the tenor and the tempo of
newsgroups like this could well be put off. The reason I don't jump in
more often is because I know I tend to lose patience with some
questions and questioners, and I'd hate to chase anyone away from a
source of solid information. Truce?
