Microsoft Office Outlook Live Mail Connector -

L

Lee Hopkins

I recently installed an update to Live Messenger that came with a big payload
of Live programs - including an update to Hotmail Outlook Connector.

The result of this upgrade has been the addition of a long delay in the
download times between Outlook and Hotmail. I can send/receive F9, all I
want. It still won't get the new messages for at least a minute. I see the IM
pop-up saying new message but can't get it to download in a timely fashion.

Any advice on how to improve/restore the responsiveness of the hotmail/live
mail connector?

You could uninstall the connector and go back to how you were configured
before.

I think that this person is describing the same problem that I am
experiencing:
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, Outlook 2007 (12.0.6320.5000) and
Outlook Connector 12.4.6414.1000
The problem as I am experiencing it is as follows:
Windows Live Messenger pops up a message to say that I have new mail from
'Joe Soap'.
Outlook is already loaded and minimised to the task tray.
I pull Outlook up and click 'Send and Recieve'. - No new mail.
I click Send & Recieve again. - No new mail.
I repeat this process a dozen or more times. No new mail.
I open Internet Explorer and navigate to Hotmail. Sure enough, my message
is there in the Inbox.
I close Explorer and switch back to Outlook. Click Send & Recieve. No new
mail.
At this point I have two choices.
1. If I wait for up to 15 minutes the message will eventually appear in my
Inbox (clicking the Send and Recieve button makes no difference).
2. I can close Outlook and re-open it and I will get the message
immediately.
I have un-installed Outlook Connector and re-installed. This makes no
difference.

Peter--I don't know if this will help, but about a week ago, I started having
issues receiving my email. With trail and error, here's what fixed it:

First update your Hotmail account to a Windows Live Hotmail account by
visiting the following Microsoft Web site, and then click Update your account
now:
http://get.live.com/bgg
Be warned that this installation is long and you don't need to install all
options.

After this, you install Microsoft Office Outlook Connector 12.1 here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...B1-DF0A-46E1-AA93-7D4870871ECF&displaylang=en
When you're at the page above, download the file on that page name "RTW FAQ
final.docx" for some helpful detail.

I found out that if you don't install Windows Live first and convert your
Hotmail account to a Windows Live Hotmail account, you get this error message
when trying to install Microsoft Office Outlook Connector 12.1: Internal
Error 2203. C:\Windows\Installer\dc16d.ipi, -2147287035.

After converting to Windows Live and installing Microsoft Outlook connect,
you will see a Microsoft Outlook Connector dialog box when you launch Outlook
that is headed "Seet up Outlook Connector to automatically symchronize your
Web-based accounts in Outlook." It asks for your hotmail address and
password. Also, Outlook it will automatically prompt you to create settings
for your converted Hotmail account to change it to a MAPI account. I had to
restart Outlook a time or two before all was well.

In Outlook, under Tools, Account Settings, you should see your newly created
MAPI Hotmail account listed under the E-mail tab with the name and "Type" now
says MAPI. Outlook also will now include "Server Status" information on the
status bar. I like this detail--helps in troubleshooting.

This was incredibly hard to figure out. I don't know why it began happening
last week. If anyone experienced something similar, I would love to know.
