Whenever start Excel 2007 on my new Vista Notebook by double cliking on an
Excel file, or when I want to Close the Excel file I get 90% of the cases the
following error message.

"Microsoft Office Excel has stopped working
A problem caused the Program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you ....."

In Vista's "Problem Reports & Solutions" I have 106 times this problem
logged !!!!

I tried to un-install Office and install it again but the problem remained.

Any idea what the problem is and what I should do ?

Same problem when trying to copy a worksheet from one Excel file to another.
The only workaround was to save the two Excel files in 2003 format and the
perform this worksheet copying on another PC running XP & Excel 2003.

I have a similar experience with Office 2007 SB on Vista Ultimate. My
experience is as follows:
First installation on a factory configured Acer TM8215WLMi with Vista
Ultimate seemed to work without this problem, however because of too much
testing of different SW in the first month, I decided to reset the PC to
factory default settings and reinstall all SW that I need and had found
should work with Vista from scratch. Ever since the first restore of the PC
to factory default settings I have had problems with Excel 2007 APPCRASHes. I
am not sure if there are any Registry settings that are transferred from old
installation to the new one(s), even if I specificly only selected my Outlook
settings to be transferred.
Excel 2007 is APPCRASHing if I:
1. Start Excel and press Ctrl+n to create a new file
2. Start Excel with an existing file and press Ctrl+n to create a new file
3. Sometimes, but not allways, when I open more exisitng files from the same
Excel window (using Ctrl+o)
4. Sometimes, but not allways, when I close only one of the open files
(using Ctrl+F4 or the X button for the document window)
5. Open an existing file by double clicking the file in Explorer
6. Open Excel without any file (only the default Book1) an then directly
closing Excel
7. Sometimes when closing Excel for the day with one or more files open.
No matter how I recreate the APPCRASH, the following information is the one
given for the crash:
Code Snippet
Problem signature
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: EXCEL.EXE
Application Version: 12.0.4518.1014
Application Timestamp: 45428263
Fault Module Name: OLEAUT32.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386
Fault Module Timestamp: 4549bd95
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 000041c0
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1044
Extra information about the problem
LCID: 1033
Brand: Office12Crash
skulcid: 1033
The Bottom line is that Excel 2007 on Vista is not working at all and I
would really like to see a solution to the problems as soon as possible. From
what I have read this is problem probably exists in other Office versions
running on Vista, making this a Vista problem.

End of message.

I have similar problem on Vista Home Premium, HP dv9211, office 2003 excel.

No solution yet.

I'm trying openoffice now, free download from openoffice.org, hope can use
spreadsheet without crashes.

The PC on which Excel 2007 is not working is an expensive 17'' HP Pavilion
Media Center dv9294ea notebook with factory installed Vista Home Premium and
also preinstalled Norton Internet security.

If openoffice is working then I will switch too. Because it is impossible to
work with Excel 2007 crashing and restrating regularly but randomly (!) at
each file Excel open and Excel close/exit.

I have the same problem in my HP Pavilion tx1030 AMD Turion 64 x 2 with
factory installed Vista Home Premium. But only in excel 2007.
After try many times, and change files from 2003 to 2007, the program works
but in no sure condition. The problem remain.

I contacted HP support and the issue was solved after un-installing the HP
Integrated Module with Bluetooth and installing a new version of it.
EDOUARD.

I have a Lenovo T60 8744-HCG model with Vista Business, and have similar
problems with Office 2007 (home and student version). Anybody happen to know
what should I uninstall to get it working? =) I have the latest patches to
Office and Vista.

Excel crashes about 90% of the times I close the application (with a file
open). The same happens if I try to close a file without exiting the program,
so it seems that closing a file is the problem. Other office applications
work fine (Word, PowerPoint, OneNote e.t.c).

Maybe I should contact Lenovo directly. Anyway, they probably won't help me
since the office did not come together with the machine (bought separately).

OK... The problem was in the bluetooth add-in for Excel 2007. After disabling
the "send to bluetooth" add-in from the Excel options, the problems vanished.

For all thouse who didn't find out howto work this out in the prewious posts
follow these steps(Office 2007:

1. Open Excel from start menu.
2. Click the Office symbol in top left corner, hit Excel options.
3. Click "Add-Ins", then choose COM Add-Ins from dropdown menu in bottom of
your window and click Go.
4. Mark the line with Bluetooth in it, and click remove.

The problem should be solved now. If not try Microsoft Support :P

I tried this solution but I get following message

'The connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed'

I guess it's a security problem. How do I solve this?

this?

Isnt Microsoft monitoring these boards?? we could use some help. This excel
crash problem is widely known...and no solutions are officially available :(
very unsatisfying.

Hi,

I am having the same problem with Excel and was trying to disable the
Bluetooth Add-In but receive the same message:

'The connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
cannot be changed'

You suggest to run my Excel as administrator, but does anyone know how to
actually do that?

Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am fighting with this
Excel problem for days.
