Microsoft Office 97 is not installing on my computer and I have XP

Hello,
I insert the Office 97 into my computer and it doesn't go to auto-run mode
by bringing up the install window. I try to go to the setup button and get
this message
"C:\Windows\System32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to
terminate this application.
What should I do?
